Sr. Tooling Designer

Summary Description:

Develop the concept or prototype tooling/fixture/equipment for internal activity order, complete the design of assembly or inspection tooling/fixture/equipment for acoustic products. Improve existing tooling or modify the design of it.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Clarify and document the technical and functional requirements of tooling/fixture/equipment activity orders for precision assembly or inspection processes;
2. Complete the concept design with 3-D models for design review purpose;
3. Conduct design review meetings to verify the concept with the aid of 3-D models vs. the requirements together with colleagues in design, AME or other departments;
4. Complete the detailed design drawings for the fabricated tooling, fixtures or equipment;
5. Make sure that the completed tooling/fixtures/equipment will meet the intended purposes for product assembly or inspection as designed.
6. Support the fabrication suppliers or internal tool makers to complete the tooling fabrication successfully.
7. Complete engineering reports to document the technical findings and achievements.

Position and Training Requirement:

1. Bachelor Degree (or above) in Mechanical Engineering.
2. At least 5 years working experience in electronics, automated and high volume manufacturing environment. Strong assembly fixtures, including auto, semi-auto and manual, design experience.
3. Should have a good understanding of machinery fabrication.
4. Should have a basic understanding of rapid prototyping techniques to expedite the fabrication of designs to support production.
5. Knowledge of electrical control and pneudraulic control is a plus.
6. Able to visualize in 3D and have the ability to learn Pro-E and its advanced modules.
7. Knowledge of Pro/Engineer and Pro/Intralink/Windchi
